Day-11 Radheshyam Prabhu Bhagavadgita

 Put Principles before Pleasure:

(2.11-30)

Arjuna's Question: Compassion

Krishna's Answer: We are not body. Soul keeps on attaining other bodies after death till it gets purification

(2.31-37)

Arjuna: How can it be enjoyment after this violence

Krishna: Kshatriyas will die in battle and attain heaven. How cannot be enjoyment later

(2.33, 38-53)

Arjuna: Fear of Sin

Krishna: You are acting on the order of lord. Not for your personal benefits. You are here for Dharmasamsthapana. devotional duty is free from Sin

(2.45-46, 3.24)

Arjuna: Destruction of family tradition

Krishna: Be a role model to prevent varna sankara . Yudishtir Maharaj will protect all widows of kshatriyas treating them like mothers. Dharma will be up hold

(Duryodana, Shakuni, Dushasana, Karna- Dushta Chatushtayam)

2.41

Arjuna: Indecision

Krishna: Serve the lord with firm determination. Don't hesitate doing your duty.

Chapter -1: Arjuna presents all reasons not to fight in battle.

Chepter-2:

Section  I(2.1-2.10) - Arjuna's further doubts and surrenders to Krishna

Section II (2.11-2.30) - (Jnana -Fight) There is no death for the soul. The body can never be saved.

Section III (2.31-2.38)- (Karma-Kanda- Fight!) Karma-Kanda consciousness, by performing prescribed duties, gain material enjoyment.

Section IV (2.39-2.59) Buddhi Yoga): Combination of Karma and Yoga, Nishkaama Karma Yoga. not to be attached to results. Work on Lord's name.

Section V: (2.54-2.72): Stita Prajna - Samadhi. Material detachment and equipoised platform of liberation called Samadhi

Characters:

Duryodhana: Not caring for scriptures and god, acting selfishly for becoming an unrivalled king.

Arjuna: Own idea of protecting bodies of sinful aggressors and showing false compassion on 'dress of a drowning man'. Giving up duty which is painful, Ignorance without self realization. Lamenting for gross body not caring for soul.

PRINCIPLE: Stick to duty ordained in scriptures as ordered by God.

Sanjaya says:

By calling Krishna as "Madhusudhana" Sanjaya informs Dritarashtra that Arjuna's doubts will now be killed.

Dritarashtra was happy to hear that Arjuna dropped his bow and sure about his sons' victory.

Purport: Signs of ignorance of self realization - Material compassion, lamentation an shears.

Chapter-2: Janana - Analytical study of material body and sprit soul by supreme authority, Lord Krishna. Same body but soul is gone.

Krishna Says, 2.3:

Krishna Condemns by following words: Non Aryan (2.2), Kasmalam-implies impurities (2.2), Klaibhyam-implies impotent(2.3), Hridaya daurbhalyam-implies weakness of heart(2.3)

Definition of Aryan: Civilized class of men knowing value of life and have civilization based on self realization

Non Aryan: Don't know the aim of life is Vishnu, What is liberation from material bondage. Their conception of life is led by material conception, captivated by external features of material world

Example of non-Aryan activity is Arjuna being Kshatriya and not doing his duty out of false compassion

Kasmalam(Impurities): Lord expresses exclamation 'where from'

Klaibhyam(Impotent): Don't be cowards

Hridaya Daurbhalyam: False copassion.

Krishna is referred to as Bhagavan: Krishna is source of all incarnations. Supremely attractive. Has six opulences. Beauty, wealth, knowledge, Fame, Strength and renunciation.

Being part and parcel of him, we too do posses few of such qualities.

Bhaga=Opulence=One who posses.

Arjuna quotes dharma for facing Bhishma and Drona who are worth worshipping. He compares Dharma sastra with Artha Sastra and supports Dharma sastra.

But spiritual activities are beyond both as Lord Krishna says.
